Imperial Austria

A little country with a big history, Austria is place that has many people raving about it. We saw why. We stayed just outside Vienna for one week, in a place called Mödling, in an airbnb flat. It was nice to have our own space again, the owner was British and she was stocked up on tea 😍. The second half of our Vienna experience was in the Tirol mountains, in Mayrhofen, a very popular ski resort by all accounts.

Going solo in Budapest

With Chris still stitched up and unable to walk far, it was down to me to carry on the touring, solo. Milo was left with Chris. The few days there were planned to the minute (Ndiana you would have been proud of me), I saw every inch if Buda and Pest.  It is massive!!

We’re in the beauty of the Slovakian High Tatra’s. Not that we can tell, the clouds roll thickly across the sky, shadowing the inspiring peaks from sight. This is also the first time that a few days pre-booking has put a spanner in our year. Let’s Tarantino this tale, let’s go back.

Milk bars and meals. Eating cheap in Krakow.

Last time I was in Krakow I drank a lot, shot guns, drank some more and generally helped reinforce the Brits abroad reputation. Stag do’s have a lot to answer for. In fact Krakow is good for much more than drink and debauchery. For five days, Row and I hunted out the best places to tuck-in to honest Polish cooking.

Auschwitz. A chilling and at times difficult experience.

We elected not to take any photo’s out of respect. Snapping around just didn’t feel right to us. The picture above is the one exception: one side of a memorial book containing 2/3 of the names of the identifiable Jewish Holocaust victims. It really brings home the magnitude of this dark time.
